A Truck Mounted Attenuator (TMA) is a vehicle-mounted crash cushion designed to absorb the energy of rear-end impacts in active work zones. Mounted to the rear of a host vehicle, the attenuator is intended to help protect both road workers and motorists by dissipating collision forces before they reach the work area.
TMA trucks are commonly rented by general contractors, paving and milling companies, utility crews, traffic control firms, DOT agencies, and event coordinators — any operation that involves workers or equipment positioned near live traffic.
MASH TL-3 refers to the Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware, Test Level 3 — the current federal standard for evaluating crashworthiness of highway safety devices. TL-3 testing involves impacts at speeds up to 62 mph, and equipment that passes is accepted for use on the National Highway System. Our fleet meets this standard.
